Gary Beadle

Gary Beadle, 71, of South New Berlin, well known area business man and musician, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2018 at Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Gary was born in Norwich on March 11, 1947, the son of William and Evelyn (Mathews) Beadle. Gary is survived by the love of his life, Merrie Cummings, with whom he spent the last 27 years. He is also survived by his son William “Billy” (JoEllen) Beadle of South New Berlin, Jessica Steward and fiancée Matthew Vakos of Virginia Beach and Chad Steward of South New Berlin, grandchildren Carly and Seth Beadle, Lily Grace and Briar Rose Vakos. Also surviving is his brother Bruce (Pixie) Beadle of Norwich and their children Kathy (Barry) Christophersen of Norwich, Donald (Kerri) Shepler of Lancaster, CA, Audra (Tim) Scheer of Norwich, Bruce (Nancy) Beadle of Norwich and Mathew (Kaleigh) Beadle of Oneida. Gary is also survived by his beloved dog Nelson, who was always by his side and his cat Nugget.
Gary began his career in the plumbing and heating business in 1966. He was a member of the Binghamton Local 112 of the Pipefitters Union for 35+ years. In 1986, Gary went into the plumbing business with his son Bill. After retiring from the Union, he continued working with his son. Gary was also the proprietor of the Rooster Tail Restaurant in New Berlin during the 1970’s. He and his wife Merrie later bought a lounge on Lackawanna Avenue and called it “Beadle’s Lounge”.
Gary lived life to the fullest and music was his passion. He was a founding member of the first Rock & Roll band in our area in 1960. “The Monarchs” consisted of Gary, his brother Bruce, Joe Flores and Pep Maiuriano. Together they played in many establishments throughout the area for many years. For the past several years, up until recently, they would play at Taylor’s Country House once a year, which became an event to attend. Gary’s nephews, Bruce & Matt, carry on the family tradition. They are known as “The Beadle Brothers”.
Gary was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting & fishing with friends, family and Canadian family.
As the song of Gary’s favorite country artist Willie Nelson sang , “You were always on my mind” (which he sang beautifully). He will always be on our minds and in our hearts!
A funeral service for Gary will be held on Friday, March 23 at 11 am at the R.J Fahy Funeral Home. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
