Jessie E. Sayles, 100, a lifelong resident of McDonough passed away Sunday morning, March 18, 2018, in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Jessie was born on February 6, 1918 in McDonough the daughter of Elliott and Grace (Smith Jacobs) Whaley. She grew up in McDonough and was a 1937 graduate of the Norwich school. On July 3, 1937 she married Ronald P. Sayles who passed away in May of 1985.
Jessie was a hard worker all of her life and was a stay at home mom to care for her family and help on the family farm.
Jessie is survived by her children Jean (Phil) Hammond of Cortland, Shirley (David) McFall of Whitney Point, Albert (Donna) Sayles of Dayton, Ohio, and Marilyn (Earl) Meade of Oxford. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren several great grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband Ronald, Jessie was predeceased by her son Ronald Sayles Jr., daughtgers Virginia Smith and Kristine Sayles, sister Mildred Whaley, brother Norris Whaley and half brothers Carl Jacobs, Erford, Grant, Cary and Verne and half sisters Gladys Fargo, Bertha Whaley, Anna Collier, Vera Whaley and Viola Frair.
Graveside services for Jessie will be held in the spring from the East Pharsalia Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
