DeWitt C. “Peck” Murphy, 85, of McDonough, NY, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on May 15, 2018.

Peck was born in Preston, NY, son of the late Matthew and Louise (Franklin) Murphy.

Peck graduated from Norwich high school in 1953 and joined the Army immediately after. He married his loving wife Cassandra “Sandy” Hayden on April 26, 1986.

During his life he worked at the Victory Market in Norwich, NY, for 36 years and was a long-time member of the Oxford American Legion Post # 376. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and traveling. But most of all he loved his family.

Peck is survived by his wife Sandy Murphy and his children Tim and Deb Murphy, Karen Murphy and Shona Nicholson, Kevin Murphy, Judie Litzie, John and Cathy Murphy, Jared and Theresa Murphy and Michael and Miranda Murphy. Peck is also survived by his step-children Vennita Lateer, William Miller, Andrew Lateer, and Scott and Debby Miller.

He is also survived by his grandchildren Theresa Martinez, Linda Murphy, Tyler Murphy, Brett Murphy, Jeremy Zornow, Jennifer and Fred Thomas, Jeff and Adrienne Zornow, Dallas Murphy, Jesse Murphy, Holly Watson, Josh Watson, Dennis Murphy, Heather McShane, Amanda and Chris Drew, Danielle Murphy and Rueben Wall, Daisy Murphy, Mechia Murphy, Brook Murphy, Nicholas Murphy, Bridget Murphy, Jordan Murphy, Nathan Murphy, Emily Murphy, Ashley Murphy, Danika Miller, Samuel Miller, Terri Miller, Mallery Miller, Matthew Miller, Cody Miller, Logan Miller, Makenna Miller and Emily Miller. Also surviving are 29 great grandchildren and his second wife Jackie Smith. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Peck is predeceased by his parents Matthew and Louise, his brothers Glen Murphy and Leon Murphy, his sister Elizabeth “Betty” Gay, his step-son James Miller and his first wife Phyllis Estelow Taylor.

Friends and family may call at Behe Funeral Home Inc. 21 Main Street. Oxford, NY 13830 on Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 12:30 p.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Richard Howard officiating. Burial will follow in J.D. Lewis Cemetery with military honors in Preston, NY.
