Carol L. Nichols, 70, a lifelong resident of the Norwich area passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Carol was born on September 18, 1947 in Norwich the daughter of Charles and Ida Mae (Handy) Reihl, Sr. She grew up in Norwich and attended the Norwich schools.
Over the years Carol has worked for the Norwich Shoe Co., GLA and Price Chopper. She will best be remembered working at the Brown Ave. bowling alley and the Plaza Lanes.
It was at these establishments where she took care of countless customers at the food counters serving food and drink.
Carol was a great fan of Harry Potter and enjoyed reading his books as well as watching the movie. She also enjoyed reading books by James Patterson. In keeping with her job at the bowling alleys she enjoyed bowling herself and also was a great scrap booker.
On December 18, 1965 in Norwich she married Arthur Nichols who passed away August 10, 2003.
Carol is survived by her children; William (Lori) Nichols, Scott Nichols and companion Diana King and Stacy (Tim) Shepard all of Norwich, her grandchildren; Alayna Nichols, Samantha (Joe) Bishop, Courtney (Chris) Bush, Erica Nichols and boyfriend Dave Feyh, Timothy Shepard, Morgan (Les) Elsworth, John and Kenneth Bassett and 3 great grandchildren Conner, Cordell and Dyson. Also surviving are her siblings Cindy Reihl and companion Jack Dewey of No. Norwich, Richard (Ricky) (Sharon) Reihl of Norwich, Charles (Chuck) Reihl and companion Dorlene Norris of Hinckley Reservoir and her brothers-in-law Richard Howard and James Barber. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Besides her husband Arthur, Carol was predeceased by her sisters Sandy Howard and Michelle (Micky) Barber.
A funeral service for Carol will be held on Thursday, June 7, at 1:00 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Thursday from 10-1pm.
