John Andrew Backo Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Cyprus, Texas on Monday, May 21, 2018.

John married the love of his life Jennifer Harris Backo on July 7, 1966. He is survived by his wife Jennifer, and his two daughters Heather and Amy Backo.

Also surviving is his sister Rosalie Cook and predeceased by his sisters Marianna VanBuren, Sandra Shovey Monroe, brothers Joseph and Michael and niece Kimberly Lynn Carhart Lillie.

John was born on January 9, 1943, the son of the late John Backo Sr., and Beverly Johnson Backo Brooker.

He graduated from the New Berlin Central School District, class of 1960.

John also graduated from Pratt Institute in New York City with a degree in engineering after which his life long employment began with the Post Office in Houston, Texas where he programmed machinery.

John retired in 2005 after 20 years with the post office.

John loved music and was a gifted pianist and guitarist. Besides being devoted to his family, his main passion was collecting rocks and making beautiful jewelry for his family.

A memorial service was be held in Cyprus, Texas on Saturday June 2, 2018.
