Shirley E. Law

Shirley E. Law, 82, of South New Berlin passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica.
Shirley was born in Earlville on August 29, 1935 the daughter of Lester and Laura (Welch) Thayer. She grew up in Earlville and was a 1954 graduate of the Earlville High School. In her early working career Shirley worked for the Norwich Pharmacy, At-A-Glance, Mirabito’s and as a switchboard operator in South New Berlin. In 1956 she married Robert S. Law and soon thereafter they purchased the farm which they would operate together until it’s sale in 1988.
Shirley was all about family. While working the farm with her husband she also, with his help, raised 5 children and made them what they are today. She worked hard and enjoyed supporting her family any way she could. As her grandchildren came along she was always there for them, supporting them in any and all activities they were involved in. At these events you could find Shirley, with her bags of candy, cheering the kids on and offering her support. Shirley loved to be outdoors. Her garden was a favorite spot to be and once it was mature you could find her canning in the kitchen. She also enjoyed cooking, bowling and playing golf.
Her family will never forget her one-of-a kind homemade Mac & Cheese and they all knew never to call her weekdays at 1PM because her favorite program was on (“Days of Our Lives”). Always the first to arrive and never late, but when it was time to go, it was time to go.
To sum it up, Shirley was a hard working all around family lady who enjoyed life.
Shirley is survived by her husband Robert of South New Berlin, her children Gail Law of Norwich, Pamela (Mike) Jones of Norwich, Julie (Brian) Thomsen of South New Berlin, Carol (Robert) Babbitt of Greer, South Carolina, and Robert D. (Lori) Law of Clifton Park, NY, her 9 grandchildren Meryl (Jeremy) Johnson, Dayna (Darrin) Waltz, Zachary (Emily) Thomsen, Jenna Thomsen, Seth Thomsen, Matt Law, Sammy Law, Dalton and Teaghan Babbitt and her 8 great grandchildren Kadan, Khloe, Keegan and Karson Waltz, Liam, Aislinn and Mason Johnson and Lincoln Thomsen. Also surviving are her siblings Marge (Herb) Scott of Lebanon, Audrey (Tom) Eaves of Lowville and Helen Brancato of Norwich.
Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Sharon Marris and brother, Bernard Thayer.
A private graveside service for Shirley will be held from the Riverside Cemetery of South New Berlin. The Rev. Kurt Funke will officiate.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Monday from 11-3 pm.
WELL, IT’S TIME TO GO!!!!!
