Dale F. Bazinet, 73, of County Rd. 14, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at his home.

He was born August 21, 1944 in Clayton, NY, a son of Donald J. and Julia Potter Bazinet and was a graduate of Clayton Central School where he played baseball, basketball and football.

On October 19, 1963, Dale married Joanne Littlefield at St. Mary’s Church in Clayton. She predeceased him on April 17, 2002.

Dale had worked for the New York State Department of Corrections for over 20 years in Auburn and transferred to Camp Georgetown until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing scrabble for hours on end, and country music. He loved his many dogs, especially Peggy Sue.

Surviving are his children, Sherry Bazinet and her partner Stuart Matz of Baltimore, MD; Terry and Diego Juan Mejia of Evans, GA; Tammy and Michael Elms of Ellicott City, MD; brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Paula Bazinet of West Richland, WA; sister-in-law, Sara Bazinet and nephew, Scott of Auburn, GA; four grandchildren, Alex, Jasmine, Maggie and Zoe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Richard “Rick” Bazinet, and a niece, Paula Dawkins.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm Friday, July 6, 2018 in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clayton, NY.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Chenango County S.P.C.A., or to Wanderer’s Rest Humane Association.
