Paul Joseph O’Connor, of Ponte Vedra Beach, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018.
He was born on September 9, 1943 in Oxford, New York. Graduated from Oxford Academy High School, received his BS from Oneonta State University, taking Masters courses from Georgetown University and Nova University. He was the son of Paul and Edna (Carter) O’Connor. He married Marigene Broward on December 26, 1997 in Jacksonville Beach. He is survived by his son and daughter, Daniel O’Connor and Kathryn Barnes (David) of St. Augustine, Florida; his grandson Ethan Barnes; his brother, John O’Connor (Kelly) of Oxford, New York; his nieces and nephews, Shannon (Keith), JP (Carly), and Brighid (Ian). PJ was predeceased by his wife, Marigene in October 2017. He was a European History teacher for 41 years, teaching at Vestal High School in New York, Sandalwood High School, Bolles School, and Stanton College Preparatory School in Florida. PJ was known for his lifelong devotion to the San Francisco 49ers, the St. Louis Cardinals and Notre Dame football. Along with this, he was known for sharing his quick wit over a cup of coffee and pastries. PJ was proud of his Irish heritage and he beamed with pride at his grandson.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 1pm at St. Paul’s by the Sea in Jacksonville Beach, FL.
