Marilyn Lou Close Kinney, 83, formerly of Sidney, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the Norwich Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

She was born November 4, 1934 in Eaton, NY, the daughter of Fred and Ethel Holmes Close. She was a graduate of Eaton High School and The University of Rochester with a degree in Nursing.

She retired from Amphenol, in 1999, after 21 years. She was also a Registered Nurse at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton and at The Sidney Hospital.

She was well-known for the crafts she created, her favorite past-time, sewing, and her delicious apple pies. She was a hilarious, unique, intelligent, loving, self-sacrificing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are her son Kevin Kinney, daughters Diane Wilcox and Denise Nabinger and ex-husband Sheldon Kinney. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six nieces and four nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Alice Close Harter and brother-in-law Eugene Harter.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 5, 2018 in the Earlville Cemetery. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Burgess and Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY.
