Lena Bessie (Clemens) Gorton, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away on October 5, 2018. She was born January 20, 1934 in Smyrna, New York to Esther and Clement Clemens. Lena was married for sixty-three years to her devoted husband, Burton Gorton . She is survived by her daughters, Kathy, Martha, and Susan and daughters in law, Jan, Lynne, Ruth and Christie. As while as her sons, David, Raymond, and Martin and her son in law, Philip. She preceded in death by her parents, her two sons, Burton Gorton Jr. and Steven Gorton and her son in law, George Stillman. She cherished her nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lena was a devoted military wife for 21 years and lived on both coasts. She retired from working as an LPN in upstate New York. Lena and her husband moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2005 after living in Morris, NY for close to 30 years. Her favorite past times were gardening, sending cards to her love ones, and playing with her great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Morris, New York at 12:00 PM, Friday, October 12, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the 100 Club of Arizona (100club.org)
