Madeline L. Ahearn, 99, of Norwich passed away early Sunday morning, November 4, 2018 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Madeline was born on February 12, 1919 in Stamford, CT the daughter of Pete and Mary Emrich. She grew up in Stamford before moving to Jamacia, NY. While living in Jamacia and during the war she had been employed by the United States Post Office as well as Grummons. She had also worked as an attendant for the Central Islip Psychiatric Center. For the past 40 plus years, along with her son Bill, Madeline has made her home in the Norwich area. She loved the outdoors and doing yardwork. Madeline especially enjoyed going into the woods a clearing a path for her daily walks. Each day she would rake and sweep her path into the woods.
Madeline is survived by her children William J. Ahearn III of Norwich, Madeline Ahearn of West Fulton, her sister Dorothy Bartel of Otis, Mass and her grandchildren John Lem, Debra Ann Caronia, Erik Lem and Michelle Dawn Sparta. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Madeline will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm from the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be in the J.D.Lewis Cemetery of Preston.
Friends may call at the R.J.Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from 11-1:30.
