Darrell D. Lawson “DeDe”, 79, of Norwich passed away Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 unexpectedly at his home in North Carolina. He was born August 2nd, 1939 in Norwich.
Son of Irene Reger and Lorence Lawson, he graduated from Norwich Central School in 1958. Darrell served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 and went on to work for the Chenango County Sheriff’s Department for 18 years. He later worked for Norwich Pharmaceuticals, T.E.R. Construction, and Pro-Tel. He retired in 2004.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 36 years, Atha “Susie” Lawson; his 4 daughters, Debbie Lawson, Christine (Acie) Hughes, Connie (Brad) Thornton, and Dara (Steve) Gibbon; a son, Jake (Sarah Crawford) Peptis; 9 grandchildren, Jason and Ashley Lawson, Erin and Bailey Hughes, Troy, Zachary, and Caitlyn Thornton, Thomas Gibbon, and Artemis Peptis; 1 great grandson, Myles Hughes. Darrell is also survived by his brother, Larry (Pat) Lawson; sister, Mary Demeree ; “adopted” son, Joe Pastore, and many nieces and nephews.
Darrell was predeceased by his parents; infant daughter, Darlene; brother, Roscoe “Rocky” Nuzzolese, and son, Eric Peptis.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 24th, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Taylor’s Country House.
