SHERBURNE – Helen M. Rundell, 90, of Rundell Rd., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009 at the Gilmour Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
She was born Aug. 31, 1919 in Sherburne, a daughter of the late Harold and Clara Wickham Collins and received her education in Sherburne schools. On Sept. 17, 1937, Helen married Clifford R. Rundell in Sherburne. He predeceased her on Jan. 2, 1980. A life long Sherburne resident, Helen had worked at Cheseborough Ponds until her retirement. She enjoyed many hobbies and past times, including bingo, crocheting, bowling and gambling. She also loved gardening and her flowers. Her family was her passion and she was a devoted mother and grandmother.
Helen attended the Columbus Community Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Tiandara Chapter, Sherburne; the American Legion Post #876 Auxiliary, Sherburne; and the Earlville Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Marjorie Rundell, David and Patricia Rundell, all of Sherburne; her grandchildren, Robert and Sherri Rundell of Sherburne; Daniel Rundell of New York City; Joleen and Chris Hughes of Earlville; Michelle and Gregory Parker of Sherburne and Stacy Rundell of Sherburne; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Ashley Rundell, Amos and Alex Hughes, Abbie Manwarren, Dalaney and Josie Parker; two sisters, Izora Winton and Anne Boise, both of Sherburne; a brother-in-law, Judson “Jr.” Rundell of California; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Diana Jean “Dolly” Rundell in 1947, her companion, Clyde Reese, a brother, Richard Collins and a sister, Mildred Ferris.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 26 from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Burial will be in the Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from Noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
