NORWICH – Betty P. Hadlock, 67, of the Golden Age Apts., Norwich, entered into eternal rest with our Heavenly Father on Thursday evening. Dec. 24, 2009, at her home, following several months of poor health.
Born in Norwich in May of 1942, Betty was the daughter of Ralph and Leola Simpson Carpenter. On July 17, 1966, she married Kenneth H. Hadlock, Sr., who predeceased her in 2000. Betty was a long-time employee of the Chenango County Public Health prior to her retirement, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Betty is survived by her sons and their wives: Kenneth H. and Whitney Hadlock of Norwich and Karlton L. and Lisa Hadlock of Sherburne. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Andrew, Brittany, Sarah, Heath, and Vanessa Hadlock, all of Norwich; Deborah Rafiq and husband Hamza of Milford, Mass., Samantha Hadlock of Sherburne; and a great grandchild, Hannah Rafiq of Milford, Mass. Thelma West of Norwich, the last of the siblings, also survives. Betty leaves behind many nieces, nephews, close friends, and her church family who will miss her, including Jean Stagman, Christine Einhellig, and Henrietta Thayer. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Leola; by her brothers and sisters, Fred, Myrtle, Virginia, LuAnne, Butch, and Charleen; and by her longtime companion, Frank A. Rusavage.
A memorial service for Betty will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Norwich. Interment will be at a later date in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m.
