Gladys Williams


NORWICH – Gladys L. Williams, 94, formerly of Sherburne, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, Norwich.
She was born Nov. 14, 1915 in Sherburne, a daughter of Walter and Cora Aylesworth Hull and received her education in Sherburne schools. Gladys married Gordon D. Johnson on Aug. 30, 1934 in Sherburne. She later married Earl Williams who predeceased her. Gladys had worked at T.A.C.O. in Sherburne for many years, and then for the Community Workshop in Norwich where she cared for clients in her own home until her retirement. Gladys enjoyed crocheting as a favorite hobby. While living at Preston Manor, she enjoyed entertaining the other residents by playing the piano for them. When she lived at Grace View Manor, she played piano for the residents of the Gilmour Healthcare Facility as well.
Surviving are her children, Janette and Robert Anderson of McDonough; Irene Myers of Sherburne; Rolland “Ron” and Cheryl Johnson of North Norwich; a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Vivian Hull of Sherburne; twelve grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant twin sister, Grace; a sister, Clara Whitacre; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. on Friday from the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery in the spring.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. prior to the service.
