GREENE – On Jan. 13, 2010 at 4 p.m., Marie Cornelius Hall was once again held in the loving arms of her parents, Glenn and Lila, her husband Jack, her beautiful daughter Marie, son-in-law Bob, daughter-in-law Diane, brothers Lyle and Juney, and many other friends and relatives.
She was born July 9, 1920. She resided in Greene, lived a year in Oregon, many winters in Florida and summers at her camp in Tyner.
She is survived by her favorite dear sister Dorrine and brother-in-law Joe, daughter Jackie and much loved son-in-law Colin, son Graydon, his children Tony and Nickie, nieces Syl and Shirley, nephew Wayne, several great grandchildren, great nephews and nieces.
She had a stubborn streak, a wry sense of humor and always spoke her mind. She was an avid reader and had a large book collection. She relished vodka cocktails, smoking and good company. Those she loved, she loved dearly and those she didn’t were made aware of the fact. Her phone conversations with Skookie about the good old days gave her great pleasure. She looked forward to her special mail delivery by Bert and her visits from Ann.
Following a stroke on New Year’s Day 2008, she lived at Chase Memorial in New Berlin where she received excellent loving care from her special caregivers including Linda, Judy, Diane, Rob, Michelle ... there is not space to name you all, but you were her angels, we are forever grateful. While there, she enjoyed visits from her dear friend Charlotte Frear.
At her request there will be no formal services, but a get-together in her honor will be held at the Tyner camp in July and her ashes will be next to Jack’s over the kitchen door where they can both keep an eye on things. The following expresses her feelings perfectly.
Living Bouquets
When I quit this mortal shore
And mosey ‘round this earth no more,
Do not weep and do not sob;
I may have found a better job.
Don’t go and buy a large bouquet
For which you’ll find it hard to pay,
Don’t mope around and feel all blue;
I may be better off than you.
Don’t tell the folks I was a saint
Or any old thing that I ain’t.
If you have jam like that to spread,
Please hand it out before I’m dead.
If you have roses bless your soul,
Just pin one in my buttonhole
While I’m alive and well today;
Don’t wait until I’m gone away.
Mabel Easley
Mommy, you kept me busy the last few years, but you are exactly the mother I would have chosen. I love you with all my heart. Please raise a glass in her memory. Those wishing may make contributions to Chase Memorial Nursing Home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
