NEW BERLIN – Harriet G. Lyon, 99, of New Berlin, passed away Jan. 18, 2010.
She was born Feb. 6, 1910 in New Berlin. Harriet’s education started in a one room schoolhouse at 5 corners in New Berlin. She graduated from New Berlin High School and became a registered nurse. On Jan. 16, 1932, she married Reginald W. Lyon, who predeceased her on Jan. 25, 1984. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild.
Harriet touched many lives with her faith, warmth and gift of listening.
Harriet is survived by her daughters, Nancy (William) Phelps of New Berlin and Mary Marshall of Skaneateles. Melinda (Richard) Pope and John (Julie) Marshall III are her surviving grandchildren. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren and two great great-grandsons.
She was predeceased by her grandson, Martin Phelps, her son-in-law, John R. Marshall Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew’s Episcopal with the Very Reverend Charles Taylor officiating.
Interment will be at St. Andrew’s Cemetery, New Berlin.
Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin.
