NORWICH – Betty Louise (Dixon) Parks, born June 19, 1947 in Norwich, to Thomas and Helen (Davis) Dixon, went to be with her Lord Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010 in Sebring, Florida. She died unexpectedly of an aortal aneurysm.
Betty Lou was a graduate of Norwich High School, attended Cortland (SUNY) until she married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Parks. They were married at the Dartmouth College Chapel on Oct. 21, 1967. Betty was an avid and talented tennis player. She was on several USTA teams in New Hampshire over the years and was often the club champion at Fortunes Rocks in Biddeford, Maine. She and Tom have split their time between Biddeford and Bedford, N.H. for the past 27 years. Tennis was a great love of hers and she made many close friends through it. Her first love, however, was God. She was a committed Christian and lived her faith in an exemplary way every day. She was a strong supporter of Pro-Life causes and a crisis pregnancy center counselor for many years. She and Tom were very active in New Life Church in Biddeford.
She leaves behind her husband of 42 years, Thomas M. Parks, a son, Michael Thomas Parks, his wife Suzanne of Medfield, Mass. and a daughter, Kathryn Louise (Parks) Dorst and her husband Dave of Leesburg, Va. A brother, Thomas H. Dixon and his wife Pauline of Wellesley, Mass., six grandchildren, to whom she was “Grammy,” Kaitlin and Ryan Parks of Medfield, Mass. and Miles, Wesley, Alayna and Natalie Dorst of Leesburg, Va., her (and Tom’s) stepmother, Lee (Barrett-Parks) Dixon of Avon Park, Fla. as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Carol (Dixon) Henderson as well as her parents.
A funeral service will be held at New Life Church in Biddeford, 551 Alfred Road, Biddeford, ME on Saturday at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visitation prior to Service from 10:30 – 11 a.m. Interment private.
