NORWICH – Frances ‘Feikje’ Postma, 83, of 700 County Road 25 and formerly of Houghton Hill Rd., Homer, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
She was born Sept. 19, 1926 in Workum, Friesland (Netherlands) to Harmen and Wimkje Hilverda.
Frances and her husband, William Postma, immigrated to the United States in 1953 from the Netherlands. They operated a farm in New Jersey for many years before moving to Homer in 1980. The family moved their dairy business to New Berlin in 2003.
Frances devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a lady of faith and prayer, a living example of a godly woman.
Surviving are five daughters, Wilma (Glen) George of Camillus; Trudi (Doug) Vredeveld of Grand Rapids, Mich.; Sietske (Brian) Wheeler of Landenberg, Pa.; Martha (David) Evans of Andover, N.J. and Ruth (Howard) Vandam of Port au Prince, Haiti; four sons, Bouwe (Kathy) Postma of Bangor, Pa.; Harmen Postma of Port Murray, N.J.; James (Melody) Postma of New Berlin, and Ted (Barbara) Postma of New Berlin; 27 grandchildren, one great grandson; her brother-in-law, Jentje Postma of New Berlin; sister-in-law, Jeltje Hilverda of the Netherlands and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Postma was predeceased by her husband, William Postma in 1987.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the Dresserville Baptist Church, Crofoot Rd., Dresserville, with Pastor Tom Rofe officiating. Frances will be laid to rest with her beloved William in Atwater Cemetery, Homer, when weather permits.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
