OXFORD – William F. Johnson, 64, of Avon and Oxford, passed away on Feb. 4, 2010 at the New York State Veterans’ Home, Oxford.
He was born on Oct. 23, 1945 in Norwich a son of the late Louis and Wanda (Hoag) Johnson.
He is survived by his brother and sister in law, James and Colleen Johnson of Delhi; his nephew James Johnson, Jr. and fiancé, Charlene Peacock of Philadelphia; his niece, Jennifer C. Johnson of Springfield, Mass.; his fiancé, Patricia Pohl of North Tonawanda.
He was a graduate of Oxford Academy and Central School, Class of 1963, SUNY Delhi with a degree in Dairy Science in 1969 and the University of Georgia with a degree in dairy plant management in 1971. He had been a Dairy Specialist I for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets until his retirement in 2007. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Viet Nam War. He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and Fort Hill Post #376, American Legion. He was an avid hunter and a member of the NRA.
Graveside services will be held in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford at a time to be asnnounced.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
