NORWICH – Ruth May (Muzz) of Norwich, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, passed away on Friday, March 5, 2010.
Ruth was born September 28, 1924 to Paul S. Rudy and Mary A. Wiles and grew up on their family farm in Middletown, Maryland. Ruth moved to Norwich in 1969 with her husband of 57 years, Donald May. Ruth was employed by Grand Union Supermarkets and later became Manager of Mila Fabrics. Family was first for Ruth. She raised two children, Daphne Gough who resides in Frederick, Maryland, and Keith May of Norwich, and has been a large part of their lives throughout the years.
Ruth is survived by her sister Charlotte Ahalt of Frederick, Md.; daughter-in law Brenda May and granddaughter Kayla May of Norwich; grandson Thad Gough and wife Susie, great-grandchildren Madison and Noah Gough of Elkton, Md.; grandson Joel Gough of Virginia Beach, Va., long time friend William Shatter of Hudson, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Maxine Rudy and Orpha Zimmerman.
Ruth loved cooking for friends and family and enjoyed entertaining, spending her summers at their Bradley Brook lake house and cherished every day spent with her buddy Kayla. Ruth lived her life to the fullest and always with great integrity. She will be deeply missed and fond memories will be had by all who knew her. Rest in peace Muzz, we love you!
Out of respect for Ruth’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Middletown, Md. on Saturday, March 13 at 11 a.m.
Contributions in Ruth’s memory can be made to the Norwich Family YMCA or Norwich SPCA.
