Jack Frederick


LATHAM – Jack Frederick, 64, of Latham, beloved husband of Mary Kay Portelli Frederick, entered into eternal life suddenly on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at his home, in Latham.
Born in Syracuse, he was the son of Helen (Harrison) Frederick Lehner and the late Everett L. Frederick. Jack and Mary Kay were married on Oct. 28, 1972 in Norwich, and the two shared a blessed union of 37 years. He was a graduate of North Syracuse High School and Windham College in Vermont. He was currently the Regional Sales Manager with Slack Chemical Company. He served on the Stewardship and St. Vincent DePaul committees at St. Ambrose Church.
Above all Jack loved his wife, children, family and friends. His giving nature, compassion, and boundless love inspired so many and provided all with comfort and support. He was always there to offer words of wisdom and to lend a helping hand, a listening ear and an open heart. He was a friend to many and had a great compassion for the less fortunate.
Jack was an avid golfer and loved to go on cruises with his Mary Kay. He enjoyed family weekends on Oneida Lake and recently restored a vintage Boston Whaler. Jack was a classic car enthusiast and always loved a good joke. He had a great appreciation for music and enjoyed playing the steel drum.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his loving children Shannon Frederick Meneses and her husband Phil, Erin Frederick and her fiancé Ryan McMillen, his cherished granddaughter, Violet McMillen, his sister Ruth Cronkwright, and his dear cousin Maureen Hallowell. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at St. Ambrose Church.
Interment will be at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul at St. Ambrose Church.
