NORWICH – Ingeborg Porcing, 86, of Norwich, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010 in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Ingeborg was born in April of 1923 in Germany, the daughter of Fritz and Erma Sobek. She received all of her education in Germany and worked for the German government until her marriage 1956. In 1954 she met Carl Porcing in Frankfurt, Germany and they were married in August of 1956 in the “Crown Halls” and the Katharine Kirche in Frankfurt.
In 1956, Ingeborg and her husband moved to the United States and made their home on the Shawler Brook Road in Sherburne. After Carl’s retirement in 1965, they went back to Europe. After many trips within the USA and Europe the lived on the Canary Islands and also in Salzburg, Austria. In 1973, Carl and Ingeborg came back to the U.S.A. and made their home in Norwich in the “old green house” on North Broad Street. Ingeborg worked for 15 years in the Carol Ann Shop until it closed.
After Carl’s death of Alzheimer’s in 1983, Ingeborg made her home in Norwich on West Main St.
Ingeborg is survived by her brother Goetz-Eberhard Sobek and her sister-in-law Barbara Sobek of Frankfurt, Germany. In honor of Ingeborg’s request, there will be no formal services.
