SOUTH OTSELIC – Stanley Coleman, age 85, born in South Otselic, on May 6, 1924, son of Catherine and Harry Coleman, died at his home in Boise, Idaho of natural causes on March 14, 2010. Stan worked in auto body shops in Syracuse, before moving west and continued his trade in Boise, Idaho.
Stan was famous for his leatherwork, which he started doing when he was ten years old.
He grew up in a musical family where they played country music locally. He was backup guitarist for fiddle contests in numerous states. He proudly played in a band on the Today Show in Boise years ago. Back east Stan played guitar and bluegrass music with Mark O’Connor, Mac Wiseman, and Chubby Wise. After moving west, he played guitar with his many Boise friends.
Stan is survived by his sister, Minnie C. Austin, niece L. Joanne French, nephew-in law, Stephen Price, grandnieces Cindy Price (husband David), Laurie Price (fiancé Dave Hooker), grandnephews Timothy C. French, and Matthew S. French (wife Lenny Sue), their families, and his companion Norma States. Stan was predeceased in death by his parents, brother Donald Coleman, and niece Joyce Price.
In lieu of flowers please help someone out on a task or a project. Do it with a smile and a laugh and accept no remuneration. If we all do this it may help make up for losing Stan who did so much of it.
A celebration of Stan’s life and memorial service will be held at a later date in Boise.
