SMITHVILLE FLATS – Katherine A. Smith, 65, of Smithville Flats, passed away April 29, 2010, at her home.
Born in Oneonta, Katherine was the daughter of Leroy and Betty (Bard) Lints. She was a homemaker, and was known by neighbors and friends as the “neighborhood Mom.” Katherine also enjoyed scrap-booking, gardening, fishing and camping.
Katherine is survived by her husband Ernie Smith of Smithville, son Vern Morley, Jr. and Teresa, of Oxford; daughters Connie Williams (Jody Corey) of Smithville and Rhonda Tewksbury (David) of Bainbridge. Katherine is also survived by stepchildren and their spouses or partners, Ernie Smith, Jr. and Christina, Joseph and April Smith, and Claude Osterhout, each of Kerhonkson; Mark and Nancy Smith of Colton; Matt and Mary Smith of Smithville; Laurie Prosser, Crystal Wakefield, Mary Ellen Burdick, and Jim Button, each of Norwich; and Wanda and Doug Wildenstein of Greene. Her surviving siblings and their spouses are Ken and Kathy Lints, and Carl and Sharlene Lints, each of Oxford, Donna MacLaury (Mack) of Smithville, and Bev and Wayne Rogers of Brisben. Katherine is survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford, with the Rev. Ralph Hinman officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Oxford.
