Thomas F. Manley, Jr.


Thomas F. “Tom” Manley, Jr., 89, of Norwich, died on Wednesday, May, 8, 2024.
Born on May 1, 1935, in Norwich, Tom was a son of the late Dr. Thomas F. and Dorothy (Wait) Manley where he spent his childhood working his family farm. He graduated from Manlius Military Academy and continued his education at Syracuse University. In 1960, Tom graduated from Cornell University and began his professional career at International Harvester. Tom later returned to Norwich and worked as the Research Purchasing Manager for the Norwich Pharmacal Company. He retired in 1993 from Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals after a 32-year career.
Tom was an original founder of the Lost Pond Club, a member of the advisory board for the Dr. Thomas F. Manley Nursing Scholarship, an active parishioner of both St. Bartholomew’s and St. Paul’s Churches in Norwich, and a former advisor of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse School Board. He was an antique tractor collector, avid golfer, and a passionate hunter who enjoyed working with his bird dogs.
In 1982, Tom married Donna LoPiccolo, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Thomas F. III (Andrea) Manley, Michael Manley, Timothy Manley, Joseph (Erika) Manley, Patrick Manley, and Brian Manley; grandchildren, Celina, Shane, Catherine, Sarah, and Katherine; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tom was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy MacMackin.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Tom was celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 13, 2024, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, where the Rev. Ralph A. Bove officiated. Burial will occur privately in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
