Clementine DeForest


Clementine DeForest went home to her Lord on June 8, 2024. She had lived for years in New Berlin, New York, but for the past few years, had been living with her son, John DeForest in Norwich, New York.
Clem was born May 19, 1931, in Garratsville, New York. She was a graduate of New Berlin Central School.
In 1953, she married Gerald S. DeForest, Sr. who predeceased her 1n 1996.
She worked at Sinctilla, in Sidney, NY, Webb & Sons of New Berlin and Preferred Mutual Insurance Company also in New Berlin.
Clem is survived by a son-in-law Carl Tiffany of Middleburgh, FL, Jerry DeForest Jr. of New Berlin, James DeForest of Edmeston, Sheila DeForest Bell of Unadilla, Tina & Alan Aikman of Dauphin, PA, Carl DeForest of Brunswick, OH and John DeForest of Norwich, NY.
Clem was predeceased by her oldest daughter, Carol DeForest Tiffany, as well as Christine DeForest (infant) and Johnny DeForest, (infant).
She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she loved dearly.
Clem loved to knit and crochet and sold her crafts at various craft shows. She was well known for her knitted baby sweaters. Some had been mailed out to quite a few states and some even overseas. She volunteered for years at the Country Store at the yearly Morris Fair.
She loved her family, animals, gardening, polka music, cake decorating and square dancing.
Calling hours for Clementine DeForest will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Dakin Funeral Home LP, 17 North Main St., New Berlin, from 7 - 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 13, from 9-10:00 a.m. Her service will be at 10:30 at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, 24 North Main St., right across from the funeral home. Parking is available.
A reception will follow the committal at the New Berlin Fire Station at 75 South Main St., New Berlin.
