NORWICH – Mary A. Olin, 92, a life long resident of Norwich, passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the Residential Health Care Facility of Chenango Memorial Hospital, where she has made her home for the past several years.
Born in Norwich in November of 1917, Mary was the daughter of William and Lena Foster Dorsey. She grew up in Norwich and was a 1937 graduate of the Norwich High School. On Oct. 3, 1953, she married Hobart “Hobie” Olin, who passed away Dec. 27, 2009. Over the years Mary had worked for GLA and the W.T. Grant Co. Her last employment was with the former C&U Telephone Co., from which she retired.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Judy Bible and her husband Darwin of Boulder City and their children Stacy and Jamie; Larry Wales and wife Judy of Lisle and their children Lisa, Michele and Brian; and her step-son David Olin and his wife Marcia of Norwich and their daughter Jessica Olin of Akron, Ohio. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides her husband Hobie, Mary was predeceased by a sister, Beulah Dorsey.
Graveside services for Mary will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from St. Paul’s Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest together with her husband Hobie. There will be no calling hours.
