Roberta M. Ellis, 85, of Sherburne, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Chase Nursing Home, New Berlin.
She was born April 13, 1939, in New Berlin a daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Reed) Ellis. A lifelong Sherburne resident she graduated with the class of 1956 from Sherburne High School and enjoyed coordinating their class reunions for years to come.
She worked for Norwich Pharmaceuticals early on, and later for NBT Bank as a teller. She sold Tupperware in the early 80’s, worked at Chenango Memorial Hospital as a switchboard operator, Chesebrough Ponds (Sherwood Medical), Sherburne, and retired from Citizens Communications, Sherburne as a repair clerk.
She was a longtime member of the Sherburne United Church of Christ and attended The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Norwich. Roberta had a very active spirit and was frequently seen walking around Sherburne, saying hello and helping others with either personal visits or taking them to their appointments.
Surviving are her daughters, Lucinda Maltzan of Sherburne, Penny Maltzan Shattuck, and Tammy Maltzan of Norwich; her daughter-in-law, Laurie Sargent of Columbus, OH; granddaughter, Rebecca Sepello and fiancée Dan Welc of Sherburne; great-grandchildren, Tristen, Seth, Isaac and Marshall; two sisters-in-law, Daphne Ellis of SC, Betsy Mastropietro of FL; and several, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her stepfather Robert Price, and two brothers, Charles and her twin, Robert Ellis.
Services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, 2 p.m. at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460.
Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne.
Friends are invited and may call from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
