Norma Jean Lazor

Norma Jean Lazor (nee Shaull), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, October 7th, 2024, at the age of 83.
Norma Jean Shaull was born in Arcadia, Ohio on January 7th, 1941, to Jesse and Rozella Shaull (nee Kelbley). After graduating from Arcadia High School in 1959, Norma married Larry York in 1960 and they welcomed four children together: Elizabeth (John) Carroll, Teresa (Thomas) Hamilton, Karen Clayden, Jeffrey (Judie) York. In 1974, she married Robert Lazor and welcomed two stepdaughters to her family, Robin Cofrances (deceased) and Kristin Templeton. Norma and Robert then welcomed their seventh child, Robert (Danielle) Lazor II. Norma and Robert enjoyed over 50 years of marriage with love, laughter, and devotion.  Eventually their family grew to include 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Norma’s life was defined by her role as a nurturing mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She found joy in every stage of motherhood creating a warm and welcoming home. Giving back to her community, she dedicated years to helping adolescents in an after-school program. Norma was a constant presence at sporting events, camping trips, vacations, and holiday parties. Her passion for bringing the family together earned her the nickname “Norma Jean the Holiday Queen.” Baking with her grandchildren was a favorite pastime, a sweet tradition that left lasting memories. She took up photography as a gesture of love so her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren could remember such experiences long after they happened. As matriarch of the family, she was a pillar of strength, wisdom, consolation, and unconditional love. Her kindness, generosity, and radiant positivity touched the lives of everyone who knew her.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 2654 E. Williams Field Rd, Gilbert, AZ 85295 on Monday, October 14th at 11:00 a.m. and live streamed via Norma Lazor’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/share/vxh84mrtM5LViuqy/. Mass will be preceded by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. in the same location. A luncheon will follow the mass from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with details to be provided at the funeral mass. Attendees are encouraged to dress in business casual attire due to the warm weather. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Norma’s favorite charities: Breakthrough T1D: For juvenile diabetes (www.breakthrought1d.org); PanCAN: For pancreatic cancer (pancan.org)
Norma will be deeply missed but her memory lives on in the love and joy she brought to those around her.
