NORWICH – Sheila Ann Holmes, 70, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Sheila was born in Brookfield, in October of 1939, the daughter of Arthur and Frieda Herrick Potter. She grew up in the Oxford area, where she attended the local schools. Over the years Sheila had made her home in the Cooperstown and Greene areas and for the past several years in Norwich. She had worked for the Preferred Mutual Insurance Co., the Carvel Ice Cream store in Norwich and the Hallmark Card Store also in Norwich.
Sheila is survived by her children, Jeffery Holmes of Morgantown, Kent., and Debora (Kenneth) Cole of Jupiter, Fla.; her grandchildren, Zachariah Zwiekel of Norwich, Seth Multary and Cheyann Cole both of Jupiter, Fla.; her sisters, Janet Williams of Waddington, Evelyn Lindsey of Bakerfield, Calif.; and her brothers, David (Bonnie) Potter of Christiansburg, Va. and James Potter of Herkimer. Also surviving is her niece Marilyn Neuland and her husband Bob of Norwich as well as many other nieces and nephews, and a very dear friend, Kayleen Sybrandt and her family of Wilmington, Del.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Frieda and her brother and sister-in-law, Orrest and Ida Karlson.
At Sheila’s request, there will be no formal services and burial will be in the Norwich Quarter Cemetery.
