NORWICH – Donald Craw Sr., 56, of Norwich, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2010, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
The son of Henry and Janice Pecan Craw, Don was born in Elmont, Long Island, in late December of 1953. He grew up in Long Island, relocating to Norwich in the early to mid-1980s. Over the course of his working career, Don was a master auto mechanic and engaged in auto body repair, earning the respect of anyone who used him as a mechanic by his honesty and fairness. Don had worked locally for Monroe Muffler, Montgomery Ward, and All-Brand Motors. An avid NASCAR fan, he particularly enjoyed watching Jeff Gordon’s races.
Don is survived by his son, Donald Craw Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; his long-time companion, Janet Thompson of Norwich; his step-children, Matthew and Jessica Thompson of Norwich; and his sisters and brothers: Barbara and Donna of Long Island, Ricki Craw and wife Gator of Long Island, and William “Bill” Craw and wife Loretta of Norwich. Also surviving are his granddaughter, Marlee, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Don was predeceased by his wife, Joy Craw, and his sister, Lori Fenn.
Memorial services for Don will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
