Darlene Ann Alexander, born on March 11, 1949, in Bainbridge, NY, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, in Albany, NY. In joining the Lord, she leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, and a deep commitment to her family’s well-being.
Darlene dedicated much of her life to spreading the gospel and nurturing young minds. She balanced homeschooling and ministry in Europe before directing childcare at the Presbyterian Church in Belmont, NC, and The Children’s Center in Norwich, NY. Darlene was not just a caretaker—she was a trusted leader, always guided by unwavering faith and compassion.
She was known for her deep love for the Lord, a nurturing spirit, and a kindness that touched the lives of many. Those who knew her admired and respected her for her selfless nature and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Charles Prewitt; her children, Michelle McAurther, Daniel Alexander, and Tre Bonham; her sisters, Nancy Taft, Lois Thompson, and Nancy Culver; her brothers, Terry Taft, David Taft, and Ricky Taft; her grandchildren, Calissa and Adalynn Alexander; her children’s father, Rickie Alexander, and numerous cousins and close friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Darwin Taft; her mother, Mable Beatrice Aldrich; and her sisters, Kathy Arend and Ellen Regan.
Darlene’s legacy of motherly love and fellowship will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those she touched throughout her life. She will be dearly missed and always remembered.
A memorial service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at City Church Norwich, 97 Silver St, Norwich, NY 13815 at 1:00 PM.
