Tracy J. “Lefty” Vorhies, 64, of Norwich, passed away on January 29, 2025.
Tracy was born in Norwich on November 10, 1960 to the late Laurie and Jim Vorhies and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed by the NYS DOT as a snowplow operator for over 20 years. Tracy spent many weekends over the years at Thunder Mountain Speedway and Skyline Raceway. He was a dedicated pit crew member when he wasn’t racing himself. Always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it on and off the track.
In 2011, Tracy courageously battled and overcame his diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. He showed remarkable strength and determination to fight and live to meet his first grandson, Carter. Tracy had a passion for collecting old coins and going through the history of them with Carter.
Along with his parents, Tracy was predeceased by his brother, Mike (Gus) Vorhies and his lifelong companion, Sherry Snow. Survivors include his daughter, Hollyann Vorhies and Eric Frank; and his grandchildren, Carter and Braeden.
Tracy will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery Norwich, NY. A celebration of life with friends and family will be held at a later date.
