Peter R. Sornberger, 77, of Victor, formerly of Sherburne, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, February 28, 2025.
He was born November 7, 1947, in Brooklyn, a son of the late Peter and Helen (Blaney) Sornberger, Jr. and graduated from Richmond Hill High School.
On May 17, 1969, Peter married Patricia C. Kelly at St. Pancras Church, Glendale, NY.
Peter served as a proud member of the U.S. Navy. He moved to Sherburne, NY, with Patricia in 1972. He was employed by the Sherburne-Earlville School District from 1972 until his retirement as head custodian in 2002.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Todd Bigger of Victor; two grandchildren, Gabriella and Owen; his brother Albert Sornberger of Port St. Lucie, FL; brother-in-law, Joseph (Jane) Kelly of Ronkonkoma; and several, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law Michael Kelly, sister-in-law Mary Ann Kelly, sister-in-law Theresa Meli (Kelly), and sister-in-law Janice Sornberger.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460. Interment with Military Honors will be held in the spring at Sherburne Quarter Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the prayer service to follow at the funeral home.
