NORWICH – Angelina T. Benenati, formerly of Golden Age Apartments, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford.
Born in West New York, New Jersey, Angelina was the daughter of Felix and Angelina (Barrese) Barbuto. She had been a medical secretary for Dr. Robert Griffin at his office on East Main Street retiring to care for her husband, Tom, during his extended illness.
Angelina was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Church and of the Rosary Society of the church.
On Oct. 25, 1941, in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Angelina married Thomas J. Benenati who died on March 9, 1982. She is survived by her children, Thomas M. Benenati, living in Georgia and Susanne and Tom Rice of Norwich; grandchildren, Tanya Santa Lucia-O’Shields and her husband, Tim, of  North Carolina, Thomas J. Benenati of Florida and Anastacia and Beth Benenati, both of Georgia; two great grandchildren and her brother, David Yacano of Camillus.  She was predeceased by her sister, Rose Cannestra.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A private service for Angelina will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery.
Contributions in memory of Angelina may be made to the Memorial Fund of St. Bartholomew’s Church or to the American Cancer Society.
