NORWICH – Barbara J. (Brown) Scanlon, 82, passed away in the Lord peacefully after a courageous fight with cancer on Friday, June 18, 2010 at Angels Grace Hospice in Wisconsin.
She was born Dec. 19, 1927 in Norwich, to Chester and Autumn (Law) Brown. On June 20, 1953 she married her hometown sweetheart Gerard T. Scanlon. Following their marriage, they both worked in the medical field, Barbara as an RN and Gerard as a Radiologist, later moving to Wisconsin in 1968. Barbara was the loving mother of Kelly (Gladys El-Chaar) Winters and Timothy (Sharon) Scanlon. She was also the beloved grandmother of Cliff, Steve, Lindsay and Luke. She is also survived by her brother Harold (Helen) Brown and nephew Padraic (Anita) Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services were held in Brookfield, Wisc. A graveside service for Barbara will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Norwich on Saturday, June 26 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
