Ray Hallock


NORWICH – Ray L. Hallock, 69, of Vestal, formerly of Norwich, died suddenly of a massive heart attack at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, Monday, June 28, 2010.
He is predeceased by his first wife of 35 years, Martha (Bowers) Hallock; parents, Lynn and Evelyn Hallock; a sister, Lucinda Dibble; a brother, Daniel Hallock; and a nephew, James Jennings.
He is survived by his loving wife of five years, Janice (Kemmery) Hallock, Vestal; a son Jeffrey Hallock, Endicott; two daughters, Sue Hallock, Hyanis, Mass., Debbie Hallock (and companion Darci Powers) Malone; step children, Karen (Frank) Meyer, Endicott, Shawn (Katrina) Kemmery, Apalachin; six step grandchilren, Madison and Frankie Meyer, Megan and Jacob, Kemmery, Brandon and Joanne Powers; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jean and George Lovell, Vestal; sisters-in-law Anne (Stanley) Jennings, Jekyll Island, Ga., Catherine (Stanley) Gage, Port Crane, and Mary Hallock, Memphis, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Norwich, where he was a eucharistic minister and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Ray graduated from Oxford Academy in 1959 and Delhi Tech in 1961. He was proud to have been an Eagle Scout. He was a life member of Robert Morris Associates. Ray was proud to be employed by and retired from NBT Bank, Norwich after 35 years of dedicated service. Ray was known for his loyalty, sense of humor, ethics, compassion, and love of family. He was proud to be a grandfather, and enjoyed following his grandchildren’s sporting events, taking them to movies and concerts, golfing with them, and having them stay over. He and Jan enjoyed travelling together, both in the States and throughout the United Kingdom and France. He was a great support to anything involving his family. To know Ray was to be his friend.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 9:30 a.m. at the Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main Street, Vestal. The Rev. Dr. Mary Ricketts, pastor of Vestal United Methodist Church, will officiate. A graveside commital service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Cemetery, Norwich.
The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 E. Main St. Endicott, Thursday evening 5-8 p.m.
