NORWICH – Ronald Thomas, 74, of Norwich, passed away Tuesday morning, June 29, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Ron was born in Livingston Manor in 1936. He moved to the Sherburne/Norwich area in 1960, making this area his permanent home. His favorite thing was spending time with his family. He also loved to camp, fish, and was always ready to play a game of cards. Ron loved to watch cowboy movies and play a good joke on those he loved. He retired from Amphenol in Sidney, where he worked for 24 years and made many friendships. Prior jobs included working at TACO and owning his own moving business.
Ron is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Thomas, along with his children: Ron Thomas Jr., Maureen and Doug Cooley, Fred and Ruth Ann Thomas, Kingsley Thomas, Melody Thomas, Rose and Mark Richer, Darick Potter, John Thomas, Peggy Wilbur, Robin and Mike Cleveland, and Tim Potter. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie and Sid Westcott, his cousin, Sharon and Earl Lilley, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his mom, Mary Lou Conklin Sprague, and step-dad, Wiley Sprague.
A private memorial service was held on Wednesday, June 30, at the Bible Baptist Church in Norwich. Ron will be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
