NORWICH – Joan A. Vidler, 85, of Norwich, passed away Wed., June 30, 2010, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton.
Born in Coventry, England in May of 1925, Joan was the daughter of William Arthur and Nora Alice Wardle Ashby. She married her husband of 56 years, Hubert L. Vidler, in Coventry on July 8, 1944. During WWII, Joan served in the Auxiliary Air Force. Following her move to the United States, she settled in Norwich and was employed for 28 years by Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals, and its successor, P&G, retiring as a finisher.
Joan is survived by her sons: Russell Leslie Vidler and wife Kim of Greene, and Reginald Graham Vidler and wife MaryAnn of Norwich, by her brother, William Ashby of Coventry, England; and by her grandchildren: Shanee Lomauro and husband Eric of Warwick, Kirstin Vidler and companion Nick Marte of Oxford, Vanessa Elaine Vidler and companion Francis Holzapfel, Jr., of Geneva, Leslie Anne Vidler and companion Anthony Colavecchio of Sante, CA, Russell Thomas Vidler and wife Lindsay of Cortland. Also surviving are great grandchildren: Maleah Young, Kaiden Marte, Nicholas and Michael Lomauro, and Donnaly Michele Consalvi; nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her husband, Hubert, on September 28, 2001, by her son Thomas William Vidler, and brother Reginald Ashby.
At Joan’s request, no formal services or calling hours will be held. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
