SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Raymond Waldo Reynolds, 80, of South New Berlin, passed away early Friday morning, July 2, 2010, at the home of his son in Harpursville.
Born in Otego in March of 1930, Ray was the son of Raymond Earl and Perle Nichols Reynolds. He attended schools in Otego and Unadilla, going to work with his father on the farm following his graduation from the Unadilla High School. A veteran of the Viet Nam Era, he served his country in the U.S. Navy. Ray lived for 20 years in Arkansas before returning to Chenango County to make his home in Rogers Hollow. He was employed for numerous years as a truck driver/milk hauler for Ives Milk Haulers and Don Hill Trucking of Mt. Upton. He loved his horses and dogs, enjoyed people, and liked traveling and playing the guitar. He had worked with the Green Thumb program for a time as a Sr. Field Rep. On July 11, 1999, in Unadilla, Ray married Sandra Peck.
Ray is survived by his wife, Sandra Reynolds; his children and their spouses: Robert and Linda Reynolds of Harpursville, Ronald and Darleen Reynolds of Bainbridge, Ellen Siemer and companion Reno Dubois of Oxford, Cathy and Kenneth O’Keefe of Cherryvale, Terry Sue Reynolds of Norwich, and James and Candice Reynolds of Grand Junction, Colo. Twenty-three grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive. Ray was predeceased by his sisters, Gertrude Ryan and Anita Carr, his grandson, Bryan Reynolds, and great granddaughter, Gracie Reynolds.
A memorial service for Ray will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the First Baptist Church of Bainbridge. The Rev. John Koopman, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Harford, Pa. There will be no calling hours.
