PLYMOUTH RESERVOIR – Michael R. Friot, 40, of Plymouth Reservoir, passed away early Tuesday morning, July 6, 2010, in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Born in Ogdensburg in September of 1969, Mike was the son of Robert W. and Donna Veronesi Friot. Prior to his 1987 graduation from the New Berlin High School, he worked for Frankie’s Pizza in New Berlin and Kehoe Furniture in Norwich, and began his abbreviated career with the Chenango County Dept. of Corrections/Sheriff’s Department in 1992. At the time of his passing, Mike had achieved the rank of Sergeant. A kind-hearted and giving man, Mike enjoyed hunting, boating, and snowmobiling. He was an avid, avid fisherman, and a fan of Star Wars. On July 7, 1990, in the Columbus Community Church of Columbus, he married Deborah Simpson.
Mike is survived by his wife, Deborah Friot, and his son, Austin Friot, both of Plymouth Reservoir; his parents, Robert Friot of Michigan and Donna Morrison of Oxford; his sisters, Janelle Lamb and Amy Friot, both of Norwich; and his brother, Keith Friot and wife Ellen, stationed at Robbins Air Force Base in Georgia. Also surviving are Mike’s mother- and father-in-law, Gary and Susette Simpson of Norwich, and his paternal grandmother, Mabel Friot; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services for Mike will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Allen Carpenter, pastor of the First Baptist Church of New Berlin, will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral home on Friday from 6-9 p.m.
