Janice Blood

NORWICH – Janice Blood, 71, of Norwich, passed away late Wednesday, July 7, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
A lifelong Norwich resident, Janice was born in April of 1939 to Homer and Margaret Parish Hoyt. She was a 1957 graduate of the Norwich High School and had attended SUNY Cobleskill for two years. Throughout her life, she was “mom” to many through the Chenango County foster care program. Her official employment out of her home was as a clerk for Victory Markets, but she had volunteered for numerous years as a Sunday School teacher and had worked in the office of the First Baptist Church where she was a member. Janice also served as a girl scout leader, worked in the office of the Chenango County Red Cross, and spent many years volunteering at the gift shop at Chenango Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, Kati, reading, and doing plastic canvas in her spare time, some of which she donated to the Perry Browne Intermediate School store.
Janice is survived by her daughters and their spouses: Jacqueline and Paul Williams of Norwich, Glorianna and Glenn Boyer of PA, and Dorothea and Timothy Howe and their family of Norwich. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Kati and Tiffany Williams; her sister, Linda Chase and husband Marvin of Hamilton; nieces and nephews: Scot and Kathie Chase of Bainbridge, Tamara and Richard Cobb of Oxford, Shawn and Jodi Chase of South New Berlin; and great nieces and nephews: Joshua Chase, Christopher and Lauren Cobb, and Kinsey Chase. Janice was predeceased by her parents, daughter Elizabeth Ann Turner, and the daughter of her heart, Cheryl Mitchell.
Memorial services for Janice will be held on Mon., July 12, at 3 p.m., from the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Horton, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
