SOUTH NEW BERLIN – Dora M. Jackson, 93, of South New Berlin, died July 20, 2010 in the Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin.
She was born March 2, 1917 in Oneonta, the daughter of Charles F. & Fannie M. (Richards) Blanchard. On March 2, 1941, she married Ambrose W. Jackson, who predeceased her on Oct. 4, 2009.
Dora spent her childhood in the Oneonta area where she was a graduate of Oneonta High School and the Oneonta Normal School.
Dora was a teacher at New Berlin Central School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, New Berlin, the Eastern Star and the Ladies Home Bureau.
She is survived by four daughters & sons-in-law: Linda & Philip Tiffany of Norwich, Donna & Merv Jones of South New Berlin, Ruth & Peter Tompkins of Guilford, Suzanne & Ken Sigas of Albany; nine grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; a sister, Ida Null of- Oneonta; and a brother, George Blanchard of Port Crane. She was predeceased by one brother, Howard Blanchard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 22, at the Dakin Funeral Home LP, New Berlin with Pastor Allan Carpenter of the First Baptist Church, New Berlin, officiating. There are no calling hours.
Interment will be in the Hartwick Cemetery.
