Victor Beardsley


OXFORD – Victor “Vic” Beardsley, 80 of Pahoa, HI formerly of Bellona, passed away unexpectedly July 28, 2010 at Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich.
He was born on December 13, 1929 in Ausable Forks, NY at son of the late Samuel and Goldia (Carpenter) Beardsley. On June 14, 1952 he married MaryLou Jensen, who survives.
Besides his wife, MaryLou, he is survived by his children, Dan Beardsley of Pahoa, HI, Mike and Meg Beardsley and children, Gwen, Keisha and Paul of Ripton, VT, Jim and Loni Beardsley and children, Scott and Jennifer of Baldwinsville, and Kathy and Jim Bullis and son JJ of Oxford; foster daughter, Donna and Bill Besley and children, Christine, Candice, Bobby and Becky of Geneva, and his Hani daughter, Robbie Meier-McGrath and children, Ryan and Megan of Pahoa, HI. Several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. He was predeceased by his sisters and brother, Hilda Beardsley, Loyal Beardsley, Agnes Jarvis, and Henrietta Ferris.
Vic was recently recognized by the Hawaii County Office of the Aging with their Outstanding Older American Award and enjoyed dinner with the Governor of Hawaii. He was known for his work with youth, from Scouting and Sunday School in New York to his being Santa in Hawaii, organizing the Annual Nanawale Halloween Parade and Family Story Hour. He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Canandaigua.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Puna Community Medical Center, 15-2662 Pahoa Village Rd., Suite 303, Pahoa, HI 96778.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Behe Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Oxford.
