VENICE, FLA. – Robert W. Nauman, 93, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Huntington, NY, passed away Aug. 12, 2010. He was born on Sept. 5, 1916 to the late William and Madeline (Ashdown) Nauman.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Evelyn (Wershe) Nauman of Venice; sister, Marjorie Mahony of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Patricia Nauman of Norwich along with many nieces and nephews. A special remembrance to a niece, Melissa (Nauman) Rohm, for her care to Bob and Evelyn during Bob’s illness. Bob was preceded in death by his son, Richard in 1988 and brothers, Stanley and Arnold Nauman.
Bob served during World War II as a sergeant in active combat in the European Theatre from 1941-1945. He was a lifetime member of the VFW. After the war, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 1976 and then Bob and Evelyn moved to Nokomis, Fla.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Venice, a long-term member of the choir, performing in many church pageants over the years. He and his wife Evelyn enjoyed many active years of retirement in Florida and they both loved dancing, especially square dancing, most recently at the Venice Senior Friendship Center.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Venice, Fla. on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
