NORWICH – Grace S. Fernalld, 92, formerly of Oxford Road and more recently, Park House Apartments, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010 at Gilmour Nursing Home.
Born March 26, 1918 in the Town of Greene, Grace was the daughter of John H. and Harriet (Fisk) Sweenburg. On Oct. 16, 1947, in Oxford, she married Raymond B. Fernalld who died on Feb. 8, 1985.
Grace was a graduate of Oxford Academy and the Utica School of Commerce. During World War II, she served with the United States Marine Corps Women’s Reserve stationed at Camp Miramar, California. Following her discharge, Grace was employed as a secretary at Eaton Laboratories in Norwich. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oxford.
Grace is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A graveside committal service for Grace will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Mt. Hope Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Contributions in memory of Grace may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Oxford or to the Chenango County SPCA.
