NORWICH – Dora Bates, 71, of Norwich, passed away Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 in the Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Dora was born in Plymouth in April of 1939, the daughter of Jay and Gaynel (Ingham) Bates. She attended school in North Norwich and Sherburne and lived most of her adult life in the Norwich area. A loving and caring person, Dora never had anything bad to say about anyone. Over the years she had worked as a certified nurses aide (CNA) working for Kimberly Quality Care, Valley View Nursing Home and Family Home Care in Sherburne. While living in Norwich she had attended the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church.
Dora is survived by her sisters, Georgia Brown and Flora Bates both of Norwich, her brother Bradley Bates and his wife Marjorie of Sherburne, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also surviving are her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws and her many friends at the Golden Age Apts. She was predeceased by her sisters Lucile Cole, Alice Beckwith, Emily Toopes and Carol Pollack and her brothers Robert, Lawrence and Byron Bates.
At Dora’s request funeral services will be at the convenience of the family with interment in the North Norwich Cemetery.
