Theodore Law Sr.
CINCINNATUS – Theodore “Ted” D. Law Sr., 78, of Cincinnatus, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at Cayuga Medical Center, Ithaca.
Ted was born in Norwich on Dec. 5, 1931, a son of the late Delmar Law, Sr. and Ora Campbell Law. A lifelong dairy farmer, Ted was affiliated with the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus. For 36 years he served as Cortland County Legislator representing the areas of Cincinnatus, Taylor, Willet, and E. Freetown. While a legislator, he was instrumental in supporting the formation of Cortland-Chenango Rural Services, the family health clinic in Cincinnatus, the beginning of the nutrition sites throughout Cortland County, and served on the board responsible for bringing TC3 to the area. Prior to that, he served as the Town of Taylor Supervisor. He was also a former member of the Cincinnatus Central School Board; member of the Farm Bureau, and was involved in several pony pulling organizations in the area.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Donalou Banks Law, at home; and his children, Mary Lee Faucher of Canandaigua, David W. (Lori) Law of McGraw, Polly Ann Faucher of Cincinnatus, Joseph R. (Betsy) Faucher of Pitcher, Teresa M. (Michael) Roberts of Atlanta, Ga., Amy Lou (Michael) Simpson of Billings, Montana, Nancy Ann Harriger of McGraw, and Theodore (April) Law Jr. of Cincinnatus. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Sarah L. Barrows, Emily M. Barrows, Timothy Law, Eric Law, Nicole Law, Taylor Ellerson, Jordan Shufelt, Alex Shufelt, Christopher Brown, Cole Stafford, Jennifer Roberts, Lindsay Roberts, Cody Simpson, Rachel M. Harriger, Jaimie L. Harriger, Austin S. Harriger, Ryan G. Buchanan, Theodore D. Law, III, and Brynn E. Law; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Shirley) Law of South New Berlin, Delmar (Betty) Law Jr. of Sherburne, and Norman (Barbara) Law of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Kareen Gibbons of Plymouth; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Leonard Law, and his first wife, Wanetta French Law.
Funeral services will be held at the United Presbyterian Church of Cincinnatus on Saturday at 1 p.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus on Friday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m.
