NORWICH – Kip L. Yerton, 54, of West Main St., passed away Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. “I lived my life and enjoyed it, with no regrets.”
He was born March 9, 1956 in Norwich, a son of the late Homer and Mildred Brown Yerton and was raised in Sherburne where he graduated from Sherburne-Earlville High School in 1974. He continued his education by attending college in Oswego and Farmingdale. Kip was a carpenter by trade and he loved to ride his Harley Davidson. He was a Civil War historian who was inspired to research the war by an uncle, Wm. W. Wakley of the 104th Regiment, who died in the war. Kip lived his youthful wild days with gusto. He was a great brother and a loving uncle who was always available to lend a helping hand. He will be greatly missed. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sherburne.
Surviving are his special friend, Alice Nightengale; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Robert Yerton of Caswell, Idaho; Ted Yerton of Oxford; Marc and Ursula Yerton of Sherburne; several nieces and nephews, and was a special uncle to Tom and Martina Yerton. He is also survived by his canine companion, Eeyore; and his many friends.
A Memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday from the First United Methodist Church, Chapel St., Sherburne.
Interment will be in West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne, at a later date.
Friends are invited to call at the church on Friday from 6-7 p.m., prior to the service.
